STRADALLI – BIKE AID PREPARES FOR IRELAND AND WALES UCI RACES

The An Post Ras Ireland is the most prestigious race in Ireland, begins May 22 and Stradalli – Bike Aid pro cycling team will bring a full A-squad to compete for the overall of the 8-day UCI 2.2 stage race.

The Ras has been sponsored by An Post for the past six years, but has been a mainstay in the top level of Irish racing since 1953. The race regularly attracts top teams from all over the world. In attendance this year will be well known trade teams such as Madison Genesis UCI Continental Team and JLT Condor presented by Mavic from Britain. 

The An Post Ras is noted for being a tough race due to the hills and volatile weather. The weather in Ireland is consistently rainy and windy. The hilly terrain of Ireland combined with the weather will ensure all teams will have a tough time fighting for the leader’s jersey over the course of 8 stages.

A team containing a mix of German , French and African riders will contest An Post Ras while another top level group of Stradalli – BikeAid Riders will make their to Wales for UCI 1.1 Velothon Wales, a race also historically frequented by top level professional riders from Europe.

The team is finalizing their preparations for the race. Stradalli – Bike Aid team management are taking the ferry from Dunkerque, France to Dover in the United Kingdom so they can safely transport team cars, busses, bikes and gear necessary to complete a long block of racing in Great Britain.

Recap of Stage 2 of Tour du Cameroun

Stage 2 of Tour du Cameroun was fast all the way to the end with a tight sprint finish after 153 kilometers of hills and extreme winds.

The Tour du Cameroun is infamous for its windy stages which often cause for large time gaps in the the peloton.

It was a successful day for the Stradalli – Bike Aid team as they placed three riders in the top 10 of stage 2. That's the most top 10 placings in one stage for Stradalli – Bike Aid since La Tropicale Amissa Bongo where they grabbed a podium place and a top 10 finish.

The team is focusing on stage wins being a primary goal, but team resources are being towards giving Amanuel Mengis Ghebreindrias from Eritrea, the best chance for success. Amanuel Mengis is only 21 years of age and is one of the most promising riders to come out of Africa in the past year.

Last year Mengis finished the UCI 2.2 race which consists of 10 stages, in third place of the youth competition. The Tour du Maroc is one of the most prestigious and difficult races in all of Africa.

The talented young rider from Eritrea now sits only 15 seconds off the lead of the youth classification in Cameroun thanks to incredible teamwork by Stradalli – Bike Aid which allowed him to finish in the top 10 on the first two stages. Mengis is best known for his climbing ability which gives him an advantage for the upcoming hilly days.

We make this mistake over and over, we think that if we buy healthy food and expensive gym equipment it will motivate us if not force us to get healthier. A week later we are throwing out rotting veggies and trying to find a place for our new gym equipment in the garage.

So how is riding a Stradalli Cycle going to change all that? Isn’t a bike just another piece of gym equipment that we are going to buy and not use? That is a good question and you are asking that because you obviously have never been on a bike. Here is why you need to get a bike:

3.       Diet: When your new hobby/addiction is also a great form of exercise you start watching what you eat as well. Ask any doctor and they will tell you that active people usually have a much easier time eating healthy than people who tend to just sit on the couch during their down time. You will actually tell Stacy to go to hell when she offers you that donut in the morning because you will be that motivated to stick to your diet. Just kidding, don’t say that to her, she’s just trying to be nice.

But before you go out and buy a bike make sure you get the right one! Ever hear of a carbon fiber bike from Stradalli Cycle? This weekend Bob McCarty and Stradalli Cycle CEO Tom Steinbacher took their bikes out for a ride in the beautiful woods of Germany and also got to race along the coast of Montpellier in the South of France. Later it was on to Andorra for the UCI worlds cross country Mtb and the ski slopes at La Massana

 

The Ultimate Bike for South Florida from Stradalli Cycle

South Florida is quickly becoming one of the top cycling communities in the country, but what is the best bike to have? When you say Miami people think about the beaches and the night life. But when you say South Florida you are talking about much more than that. Ft. Lauderdale, , West Palm Beach, Miami, Key West, Boca Raton, Orlando, Tampa, the Everglades and more. These all make up one of the most diverse communities in the world and every year millions of tourists come to visit. Biking is a major recreational activity here and people have been wondering what the best bike to use is? The debate is because if you are biking in Boca Raton you may take a completely different type of route than you would if you were in the Everglades.

So what is the best bike to get? Should you get a road bike or a mountain one? What about the cheap ones you can get at retail stores? Here’s the problem, if you get a cheap one from a retail store you have no way of knowing how reliable it can be. The South Florida terrain and weather can be tough on a cycle and you want something that is not only going to survive, but is lightweight and durable. Remember, for a lot of people their bicycle is more than just a recreational toy, it is a way to get to and from work, it is a way for them to spend time with their family and a form of exercise. Cycles are more than just toys and you need to put thought into it just like when you are purchasing a car. Go cheap and you get what you paid for, but you do not have to pay over the top either.

Carbon fiber bikes are great because they are affordable, durable and light weight. Again we mention light weight because of the importance that can have if you are cycling in South Florida whether it be Miami, the keys or anywhere else. The irony is and what pushes a lot of people away from carbon cycles is that they believe because the bicycle weighs less it is not as durable. The opposite is the case when it comes to bicycles. The heavier the bike, the more it is going to be a burden when you ride and the less durable it is. Carbon fiber is stronger than aluminum; it lasts longer and can take more of a pounding.

So now you know that the best bicycle to get for South Florida are carbon fiber ones but what is the best model to get? There are multiple to choose from and you have so many uses for it that you need one that is versatile. That would be a Cyclocross bike. These bikes are awesome because they have the right size and design to fit almost any need, especially when you are using it in the multiple terrains of South Florida. You can take them up a mountain (not that you have to worry about that here), take them on a trail in the Everglades, ride to work, ride down to the beach and everything else you can think of to do on a cycle. The term “Cyclocross” literally means a cross between multiple types of cycles and that’s what makes this the perfect bike to get.

Here is another thing to keep in mind if you are one of those “a bike is just a bike” types of people. If you are attempting to get healthier and lose weight there is no better exercise equipment you can have than a bike. The reason is because cycling eliminates the “excuses” we create to get out of exercising. The number 1 reason people skip workout’s is because they do not have time or they are too tired. That’s fine, you can be busy but what if instead of trying to find time to work out you just ride your bike to work and back? All of a sudden your busy schedule works in your favor as you are using your new carbon fiber bike to get to work, spend time with your family, get exercise, have some fun around town and more.

Stradalli Cycle looks to stay on top in San Rafael Sunset Criterium

There is one last race to go on this awesome cross country road trip for the Stradalli Cycle Pro Racing Team. The trip which started in Miami has taken them to San Francisco where the race team has been for a week to train and get ready for the San Rafael SunsetCriterium.

This is a big race as they look to keep Ruben Companioni in first placeoverall in the USA Crits men’s standings. The team has successfully kept Ruben’s first place spot the entire trip despite an impressive surge from defending champion Daniel Holloway.

Stradalli Cycle Keeps its Lead after Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix

A tough race in Vancouver could have cost the Stradalli Cycle team a lot. They came into the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix with the overall team lead as well as the individual lead with Ruben Companioni. Despite a tough field and fast track the Stradalli team was able to leave Vancouver still in first place.

"I am extremely proud of our guys. There were a lot of teams that came into the race in over there heads and we battled the entire night. All 4 of our racers finished in the points, that's impressive to do at any race let alone one that has this much competition. The guys will have a week in California to train and relax a little before the last race in this road trip. We are doing great and need to keep it going." Stradalli Cycle CEO Tom Steinbacher

Stradalli Cycle Does Great at NCC Andersen Banducci Twilight Criterium

A stacked field and big crashes did little to slow down the Stradalli Cycle Pro Race Team Saturday night at the Andersen Banducci Twilight Criterium in Boise, Idaho. It was a USA Crits AND NCC Crits Race which means the field was stacked with tough competition.

The team refused to allow the excuses to stop them.They will leave Boise, Idaho with Ruben Companioni still in first place in the USA Crits overall standings. Hector F. Aguilar also raced well and should be jumping into the top 5. But those weren’t the only racers that did well Saturday night.

Yosvany Falcon, Abel Quintana, Jose Frank Rodriguez and Sebastian Morfin all spent time near the lead, often times going head to head with some of the top names and teams in professional cycling.

Stradalli is waiting for confirmation but it is believed that the team is in first place overall in the USA Crits series which means they could hold the top team spot as well as individual.

“This race was unreal. It was just top team after top team out there and I didn’t know what to expect but every time, no joke, every single time the field came around I saw a group of our guys together. Sometimes it was a few guys, sometimes it was 2 groups of 2 but they stuck together the entire night to make sure we did our best overall. People will look at the standings and see Ruben and Hector and that’s awesome, but if you were at the race tonight you saw every Stradalli Cycle pro racer near the lead. That’s pretty cool!” Stradalli Cycle CEO Tom Steinbacher

Ruben Companioni was very appreciative of how his teammates supported him throughout the race. “Every time I looked up there were guys trying to box me in, right on me trying to beat me. That orange jersey is like a target when you are out there. But every time I got put in a tough spot or a disadvantage one of my teammates either came up with me or went ahead to help break up the leaders or do something that helped me get back up in line. It’s not easy going out there knowing every team and racer wants to slow you down but when your teammates are literally fighting for you, it makes you want to try even harder because you know they are doing it for you.”

There are still plenty of races to go but a statement was made tonight by the team. No matter where it is, no matter who is in the field, the Stradalli Cycle pro race team is not only here to compete, but they are here to win.

An Awesome Road Trip for the Stradalli Cycle Pro Race Team

The Stradalli Cycle pro race team has arrived in Boise Idaho for the USA Crits and NCC race Saturday night. This is a huge opportunity for the team as racer Ruben Companioni currently has the jersey in the overall standings for USA Crits and the team itself is 2nd overall.

Stradalli Cycle Pro Team Captain Grant Potter Coming Back Smiling and Riding Soon

Stradalli Cylce pro team captain Grant Potter, had ventricular ablation surgery in  Boston this week, is doing great and will be back on his bike shortly. The surgery lasted for 8 hours and went very well. Grant is resting and in great spirits. He should be ready to return to Florida by the end of the week.
