2017 Alabama McClellan Road Race Men’s Pro / Sunny King Pro Criterium Race Recap

This weekend’s racing recap of the 2017 McClellan Road Race that took place in Anniston, Alabama was an amazing display of cycling talent, physical endurance and teamwork from all athletes.  The racing teams that participated were a mix of UCI Pro Continental Teams, Continental Teams and Elite men teams. Out of 150 Riders in Sundays Road race event only 24 out of 150 riders finished.
The Alabama hills were a force to be reckoned with as our team had to tackle some high grade hills repeatedly and pushed all riders to their limit of endurance and training.

Our flatland Florida team tried their best and put on a 4 man chase and gained 1 min to the break but the steep highway climb was just too much to handle and blew us apart. The most important thing was that we used this weekend as a learning experience competing with the top rated teams such as UCI PCT: UnitedHealthcare, UCI CT: Holowesko | Citadel Racing, UCI CT: Rally Cycling ; we would like to congratulate and thank them for the great racing and athleticism that we all got to experience on Sunday.  Yes we got beat up and now healing our wounds but its back to the drawing board to get ready for speed week in 2 weeks , we learned a lot and are happy to be alive after the big boys beat us up J
Saturday night was the Sunny King Criterium Race night. Just finishing this race alive became a goal for most of the riders in the Peleton as large crashes were taking tolls. Two of our 6 riders were in a large crash that thankfully nobody was seriously injured.  To sum up the night with a direct quote from the EMT head Nurse that was on duty; “We have used more medical supplies in the last few hours than in the last 3 years.”
We would like to thank all of the of UCI Pro Continental Teams, Continental Teams and Elite men teams and for great racing weekend and most important thing that we could have taken back home which was to show us how much more hard work we have to do to as a team.  We cannot win all races and sometimes realize there are some big boys racing against us that kicked our ass this weekend but after all we had a great weekend and it goes on.
